Kathryn L. Mueller, MD, MPH, FACOEM, a member of MedRisk’s International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB), has been named president of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), the nation’s largest association representing occupational and environmental physicians. MedRisk is a leading managed care company specializing in the physical rehabilitation of injured workers.

An expert in disability management, Dr. Mueller has worked extensively with the ACOEM Practice Guidelines and previously served two terms on the organization’s board of directors. She is also a member of the Rocky Mountain Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (RMAOEM) and has served that organization as President, Vice President, and as a member of its Board of Directors.

A member of ISAB since 2010, Dr. Mueller is part of an elite panel of world-renown physical medicine specialists who meet annually to review the latest research and update MedRisk’s proprietary treatment guidelines for the company’s research and academic subsidiary, Expert Clinical Benchmarks, which oversees all clinical aspects of MedRisk’s programs.

Dr. Mueller is Medical Director for the Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation, Denver. She also serves as a Professor in the Department of Physiatry and the School of Public Health at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. She is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in occupational medicine and by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.
