APTA’s Orthopaedic Section Re-elects MedRisk ISAB Member Lori Michener as Vice President

Lori Michener, PhD, PT, ATC, SCS, FAPTA, a member of MedRisk’s International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB), has been re-elected vice president of the Orthopaedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

ISAB is an elite panel of world-renowned specialists in physical medicine and workers’ compensation who oversee clinical aspects of MedRisk’s medical management programs, including its proprietary evidence-based guidelines.

Dr. Michener is a professor at the University of Southern California. She also serves as the director of the university’s Clinical Outcomes and Research and Clinical Biomechanics and Orthopedic Outcomes Research (COOR) programs.

Her expertise is in the area of outcome measures, mechanisms and treatment of patients with shoulder and spinal disorders.  Dr. Michener serves on several guidelines panels, including the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and APTA’s Orthopedic Section.

“Lori is a phenomenal researcher and clinician,” said Philip McClure, PT, PhD, FAPTA, who heads MedRisk’s research and academic subsidiary, Expert Clinical Benchmarks (ECB) and works closely with ISAB. “She is instrumental in developing, reviewing and updating MedRisk’s treatment guidelines.”
