Dr. David Deitz Joins MedRisk

David Deitz, MD, PhD, has joined MedRisk, the leader in physical rehabilitation for the workers’ compensation industry, as medical advisor and member of its International Scientific Advisory Board.  Most recently, he was the national medical diagnostic imaging director of commercial insurance claims for Liberty Mutual Insurance.

Deitz_DavidPhoto2013“Having worked with MedRisk for many years, I know many senior staff and ISAB members personally and others by reputation and look forward to working with them to provide the best possible advice in the development and execution of medical management programs,” said Dr. Deitz.

Dr. Deitz has 25 years’ experience in managed care, healthcare outcomes evaluation and reporting, and utilization management systems. Prior to Liberty Mutual, he oversaw content development of managed care software and reporting systems that were successfully deployed at insurers nationwide.

“David’s in-depth knowledge of customer, provider and patient needs will be invaluable in the implementation of MedRisk’s medical management programs for delayed recovery and other new program development,” said MedRisk CEO Shelley Boyce.

MedRisk’s ISAB Chair Phil McClure, PT, PhD, FAPTA also welcomed Dr. Deitz. “His academic, clinical, and regulatory expertise is second to none in the industry,” McClure said.  ISAB is an elite panel of world-renown clinicians with expertise in work-related physical medicine treatment strategies and diagnostic imaging protocols. The board oversees clinical aspects of MedRisk’s programs to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective quality care.

“Dr. Deitz’ understanding of workers’ compensation medical review operations and medical policy complement other members’ skills and we’re looking forward to his contributions,” McClure added.
