MedRisk CSO to Address Psychosocial Barriers to Recovery
MedRisk’s Chief Strategy Officer Ruth Estrich will tackle a vital issue in workers’ comp when she participates in the panel discussion, “Overcoming Psychosocial Barriers to Recovery: It’s Not Just a Theory Anymore,” at the National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference & Expo (NWCDC).
The session presenters will explore innovative strategies to manage delayed disabilities — which research shows are responsible for 80 percent of the workers’ comp spend. Sharing results of an integrated program that targets psychosocial issues and involves comprehensive physical therapy, opioid-withdrawal management, and delayed recovery treatment, the panelists will present case studies verifying how this approach reduces rehabilitation barriers and facilitates faster return to work
Joining Estrich on the panel are Carrie Freeland, manager of Integrated Leave Department at Costco Wholesale, and Sherri Burrell, head of operations at Briotix Inc.
The presentation starts at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20. The National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference & Expo will be held Nov. 19- 21 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. For more information, please visit www.wcconference.com/register.html
