Lori Michener, PhD, PT, ATC, SCS, a member of MedRisk’s International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB), has joined the University of Southern California (USC) as director of clinical outcomes and research in the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy.

Dr. Michener comes to USC after serving as director of the COOR (Clinical biomechanics and Orthopedic Outcomes Research) Laboratory at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Physical Therapy Department. Michener is highly regarded for her expertise in musculoskeletal shoulder pain biomechanics, shoulder and cervical pain diagnosis and treatment, shoulder and cervical disorder clinical trial research, and the use of patient-rated outcomes measurement tools to assess health-related quality of life.

At USC, Dr. Michener will direct development, collection, and analysis of patient outcomes and processes of care in the USC Physical Therapy Associates Clinics. She will also direct USC’s COOR program and serve as a professor in the PT department.

As an ISAB member, Dr. Michener is part of an elite panel of world-renown physical medicine specialists who meet annually to review the latest research and update MedRisk’s proprietary treatment guidelines for the company’s research and academic subsidiary, Expert Clinical Benchmarks, which oversees all clinical aspects of MedRisk’s programs.
