The Psychologically Informed Practice presentation will take place October 27
“This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of the world’s foremost authorities on the biopsychosocial approach to managing pain in the workplace,” said Mary O’Donoghue, MedRisk’s Chief Clinical and Product Officer.
Dr. Main will describe the use of a psychologically informed practice in physical rehabilitation and secondary prevention. Designed for workers’ compensation medical directors, nurses, claim managers, and physical therapists, the webinar shares study results and examines the psychosocial context of work disability, re-engagement in work, and patient-centric care.
Dr. Main is Professor Emeritus of clinical psychology at Keele University in Staffordshire, Great Britain and a former co-chair of the Wellbeing in Work partnership. He helped develop the first pain management program specifically for low back pain in the U.K. He serves on Physical Therapy’s editorial board and has authored or coauthored more than 200 books, monographs, reports, and articles. A member of MedRisk’s International Scientific Advisory Board, Dr. Main is an honorary member of the British Pain Society, North American Spine Society and International Association for the Study of Pain.
