Presented by the North American Spine Foundation, the summit will be held on July 15 near Chicago
An initiative of the National American Spine Foundation, the summit brings international experts together to discuss spine-related impairment, which is the number one cause of disability in the United States. Estrich will discuss “Physical Medicine: From Transactional to Strategic,” emphasizing a holistic and evidence-based clinical approach to treatment with an increasing focus on function. She will also examine the transforming role of the physical therapist, including the ability to help identify biopsychosocial barriers to recovery.
“The physical therapist typically sees the injured worker more frequently and for longer periods of time than do other medical providers on a workers’ compensation claim,” Estrich said. “They are well positioned to notice problems injured workers have with their employers, perceived injustice and other psychosocial issues that hinder return to work.”
The Spine 10 X 25 Summit will be held July 15 at the Spine Education & Research Center (SERC) on the campus of NASS in Burr Ridge, Illinois. For more information, please see http://www.spine10x25.org/events/.
