MedRisk’s Ruth Estrich to Speak at the 2016 Risk Management Summit

She will discuss strategies for overcoming biopsychosocial barriers to recovery

MedRisk’s Chief Strategy Officer Ruth Estrich will discuss return-to-work and biopsychosocial barriers to recovery and present strategies for mitigating them at the 2016 Risk Management Summit. The Summit will be held October 2-6 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Estrich will speak during the “Creative Return to Work Techniques” session on October 4 at 4 p.m.

“Sometimes injured employees do not return to work, and it’s not because their injuries are catastrophic or they’re experiencing a lot of pain,” Estrich said. “Pain can be an obstacle to recovery, but it is not as significant a deterrent as once thought. Increasingly, research is pointing to psychosocial issues such as catastrophic thinking and perceived injustice as more significant barriers to recovery.”

She will explore integrated, patient-centric solutions to physical and psychosocial barriers. “Programs that identify injured employees who are at high risk for psychosocial issues and deliver interventions that integrate activity-based and physical therapy treatment plans have been shown to be effective,” Estrich added.

She will join Transitional Work Solutions Partner Dina Synder and Marty Watts, the director of marketing for the Windham Group, on the panel, which will be moderated by Energi’s Director of Vendor Management, Elizabeth Ward.

Produced by eServices Companies, the 2016 Risk Management Summit is designed for small and middle market companies that are interested in enhancing risk management and business operations.

It will be held at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada, from October 2-6. For details, please see: https://www.energi.com/summit2016/about.
