The conference will be held in Atlanta on July 18

Estrich will stress how physical medicine differs from other medical services and will highlight the key strategies to effectively return injured workers to pre-injury functionality. She will also discuss the growing importance of the role of physical therapists in reducing dependence on opioids and in identifying and resolving psychosocial barriers to recovery.

“Restoring functionality is at the heart of what physical therapists do,” Estrich said.  “The future will see them more involved in managing pain and more broadly involved in all aspects of the biopsychosocial model of disability management.”
