Teamwork and customer service drive operations at DC area PT practice

Since 2003, patients in the Washington, DC, metro area have relied on CAM Physical Therapy and Wellness Services’ patient-focused, team-based approach to rehabilitation.

Each of CAM’s 9 on-site clinicians sees approximately 15 patients a day across their three facilities in Laurel, Hyattsville and Bowie. According to CAM founder Dr. Carlos A. Martinez, PT, DPT, patients enjoy unrushed, hour-long initial evaluations, which help form the foundation of a strong provider-patient relationship. As an extension of this partnership, CAM focuses on teamwork among clinicians, staff and referral sources so injured workers benefit from a more coordinated supported team in which their pain can be managed, their injuries can be treated and work and normal function can resume as expeditiously as possible. CAM’s comprehensive four-hour functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) are limited to two per day to ensure all questions regarding the injured worker’s compensable injuries can be answered for the referral source. Return to work is further facilitated through CAM’s innovative Work Hardening program, which provides simulation of work activities from bus and delivery drivers using computerized driving simulators to firefighters simulating pulling a person from a fire or vehicle using weighted bags.

As CAM celebrates 15 years in operation, Martinez continues to focus on strategic growth to meet customers’ ever-changing needs. Opportunities for additional training are provided to clinical and support staff to keep up with the most current treatment modalities. Specialized programs continue to be innovated to meet the requests of referral sources. A new facility will be opening soon in Silver Spring, and the CAM team looks forward to helping even more injured workers get back on their feet.
