Provider Spotlight: OSPTA Physical and Hand Therapy
Western Pa.-based MedRisk provider invests in expanding occupational therapy services and expertise.
MedRisk network provider Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy Associates (OSPTA) was founded in 1984 as a physical therapists-owned practice—and that tradition continues today. All of the company’s current partners are physical therapists who deliver care, allowing them to filter their practice experience back into the organization’s core operating principles and service offerings.
Across its 30+ locations in communities across Western Pennsylvania, OSPTA has built a robust menu of industrial services ranging from physical therapy and neurorehabilitation (concussion) to work reconditioning/hardening and functional capacity evaluations. In recent years, the practice has turned its attention to growing its occupational therapy services, with a focus on certified hand therapists, who are often critical experts in getting injured workers back on the job. The organization has also appointed Scott Gettings, OT, CHT, to the unique role of Vice President, Industrial Services, to ensure the practice is equipped to meet the evolving needs of the area’s injured workers.
“Return-to-work strategies must be flexible to meet the unique needs of the patient,” Gettings said. “That’s why OSPTA is very focused on function and work ability across both physical therapy and occupational therapy earlier in the rehabilitation process. In addition to applying our biomechanical knowledge, we realize communication and consultation are critical to helping the worker effectively reach their return-to-work goal.”
Similar to their treatment plans, OSPTA has spent the last 35 years adapting their business to better care for their patients. Now backed by physical therapy and occupational therapy expertise, Gettings and the entire OSPTA team look forward to comprehensively supporting injured worker recovery in years to come.
